Meet modern leaders such as Rebecca Walker and Julie Zeilinger, who are striving to empower women at work, in government, at home--and in cultural and personal arenas. Learn from interviews with movement leaders, scholars, pop stars, and average women, what it means to be a feminist--or to reject it altogether. After reading this book, readers will be able to respond to Am I a feminist? with a confident, informed voice.

MY REVIEW

This is part of my 'Feminism' Book category. To be honest, I am probably dedicating this upcoming towards Feminism books, supporting the cause of not only what's going on in Pakistan, but also just what's going on in the world in general.

To start off, the book introduces the different types of Feminism; Anti-Porn Feminism, Cultural Feminism, Girlies, Hip-Hop Feminism, Lesbian Feminism, Queer Feminism, and Radical Feminism; and explains what they are. Because there are and can be more than one kind of feminism. Anyway to continue, The first few pages explain feminism and dive a little bit deeper into the history of where it came from, how it began, and why it's there. I learned a lot of small facts I didn't know, such as when the first wave of feminists came along, not many females provided and put their trust towards it.

As we all know, women DO NOT seem to get the same amount of pay as men do. Now, people may be tired as heck for hearing the same sentence or conversation about it over, and over, and over, but it needs to be said. Towards pages 36-37, an experiment mentioned from a book between home and work came overbearing the workplace "...the women who said no and went off to the party were later criticized viscously by the research subjects, while the men who said no were not judged at all."

"Violence against women is common because we teach girls to dress decent instead of teaching boys to ACT decent. #YesAllWomen"

Overall, this book was really good. It's good and enjoyable for people just getting into the topic of feminism, and as I mentioned before, it explains the different kinds of feminism. Really good book, Def. recommend. :)
